(Piano Keys Pop-up)

I can’t believe it’s August already! For this month’s music-themed Design Challenge I wanted to make a card that is fairly minimalist. I have been putting more and more onto my cards lately, this time I am removing unnecessary details, allowing the focus of the card space to breathe.

The main inspiration came from watching the Olympics opening ceremony and being really touched by Celine Dion’s performance. A search on the song that Celine sang led me to Edith Piaf and her collection. I enjoyed that nostalgic feeling of the music. The YouTube algorithm started to play relaxing French cafe period music. I realized that even through years of band and being in the orchestra (playing the bassoon), I had never had the chance to come into contact with the accordion. It’s such a beautiful instrument and seemingly very difficult to play.

So like I said in the beginning, I made the card then decided to adjust it and let the accordion be the focus. So I removed the borders and trim, I even removed the quote I had on the cover. I decided less is more this time. Hope you like it as it was a joy to make.
